Abstract

A stereoselective approach for the synthesis of the bio-active decanolactone (-)-microcarpalide was achieved from chiral pool tartaric acid. The synthesis of pivotal intermediates en route to the decanolactone was achieved from \alpha-benzyloxy aldehydes derived from L- and D-tartaric acid.
