Abstract

The first total synthesis of $(\pm)$-grimaldone, a tricyclic sesquiterpene containing three contiguous quaternary carbon atoms, and $(\pm)$-epigrimaldone along with $(\pm)-\alpha$-cuparenone starting from Hagemann’s ester is described.
