Abstract

A modified trypan blue dye exclusion assay was developed using $Ni^{2+}$ or $Co^{2+}$ salts to determine the viability of primary and transformed cells. When the cells were preincubated with $NiSO_4$ or $CoCl_2$ followed by trypan blue assay, the contrast between stained and unstained cells was significantly increased as compared to the conventional trypan blue dye exclusion assay.
