Abstract
The study of multiple quantum coherences is discussed as a general method leading to the identification of coupled spins in a network. In cases where there are, accidentally or otherwise, overlaps of resonances within a coupling network, a study of the multiple-quantum transitions yields the desired information unambiguously. A system of 3 coupled spins with extreme spins not coupled and having nearly identical chem. shifts is discussed as an example.
