## Abstract

Fourier transform NMR techniques were used to overcome some problems of continuous-wave techniques by time sharing of irradation and observation. Fractional changes in intensities were calculated for 2-spin and 3-spin systems by assuming (1) external isotropic random-field (R.F) and (2) dipole-dipole interaction (D.D.) relaxation mechanisms. Double resonance experts were performed on (1) 5-bromofuroic acid in CD3CN giving an AX type of spectrum, (2) 5,8-dimethyl-\alpha-naphthol in $CDCl_3$, giving an AB type of spectrum, and (3) 2-thiophenecarbanonitrile in DMSO-d6, giving an AMX type of spectrum. The longitudinal relaxation time was measured for each sample. For the AX case the relaxation is 65% R.F. + 35% D.D.4 for the AB case it is 55% R.F. + 45% D.D., and for the AMX case it is entirely D.D.
