Abstract

The influence of local molecular geometry on the carboxyl $^{13}C$ chemical shielding tensors in some organic molecules is investigated. The $\sigma_{22}$ component of the tensor shows a linear variation as a function of the OCO bond angle around the carboxyl carbon. The significance of the symmetry factors calculated for these compounds is discussed.
