5-Oxa analogs of the sesquiterpenoids, laurene (I; R = $\alpha$-Me), epilaurene (II; R = $\beta$-Me) and isolaurene (II) were prepared from $p-MeC_6H_4$ COMe using the radical cyclization reaction as the key step.
