Abstract
Vilsmeier reaction on five alkyl-1,4-cyclohexadienes has been studied. The structures of the resulting benzenedi- and tricarboxaldehyde have been assigned on spectral and elemental analyses data. Thus, reaction of $DMF/POCl_3$ with 1,4-dimethyl-1,4-cyclohexadiene gave 10% $2,5-Me_2C_6H_2(CHO)_2-1,3$.
