4-($4^{\prime}$-Ethoxyphenylazo)phenyl heptanoate is triclinic, space group P.hivin.1, with a=7.935(3), b=8.568(4), $c=16.216(4) \AA$, $\alpha=73.61(3)$, $\beta=75.01(3)$, and $\gamma=71.26(4)$; d.(calculated) = 1.156 for Z = 2. The structure was solved by direct method (MULTAN 80) using 1922 reflections and refined by block-diagonal least-squares and Fourier methods to R = 0.0457. At. parameters are given. The molecular is almost linear and planar. The angle between the 2 Ph rings is $15.02^0$. The pairs of molecules related by a center of symmetry form an imbricated arrangement. The crystalline cohesion is a result of a large number of feeble dispersion forces and dipole-dipole interaction.
