Abstract

An enantiospecific first total synthesis of (+)-trans-$\alpha$-himachalene, one of the eight male specificc sesquiterpenes isolated from the cruciferae beetle Phyllotreta cruciferae, starting from the readily and abundantly available monoterpene, (R)-carvone, is described.
